Add Some Sparkle To Your New Year

Dec 30, 2012

New Years eve is one of the only days you can get away with wearing extravagant things, so why not add some sparkle. I don't know if I would be able to wear a sequins blazer on a regular basis, but New Years Eve seems like the perfect occasion. With some skinny trousers and heels or a tight pattern skirt and thigh high boots, this would have you looking like the center or attention.

Golden Goddess: Zoe Saldana

Dec 26, 2012

I came across this Harper's Bazaar Arabia editorial on tumblr and just had to post it. Not only do I really like Ms. Saldana as an actress but she looks amazing in this Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2012 Collection. Plus, her make-up looks so sultry and elegant. I probably also posted this because people say I look like her ever since she was in that movie Crossroads with Britney Spears. Oh, and did I mention she's from Dominican Republic like me woop woop ! Okay enough of that Happy Wednesday.

Merry Christmas !

Dec 25, 2012

Just wanted to wish you all a Merry Christmas ! And that you spend it with your loved ones whether it be family, friends, or significant others enjoy it and eat lots ! Because I know I will : )

Last Minute Stocking Stuffers

Dec 24, 2012

If you're a procrastinator like me these are some great last minute stocking stuffers. You know for those people you're not really sure what to get them, but want to find something simple and quick.

Fashion Film Friday: Midnight in Paris

Dec 21, 2012

Midnight in Paris is one of my favorite Woody Allen movies. The movie follows a screenwriter and his fiancé vacationing in Paris with his fiancés conservatives parents. He is a successful screenwriter in Hollywood but he is creatively unfulfilled with life. He wants to explore the world and move to Paris, but his fiancé is perfectly comfortable with him living in California and being a profitable screenwriter. While in Paris he explores the city to help write his first novel he is struggling to write.

As he walks through Paris every night at exactly midnight he is transported back in time and meets famous creative well-accomplished people. A few of the awesome people of the 1920's he meets are F. Scott Fitzgerald, Josephine Baker and Pablo Picasso. The movie is amazing, I mean who doesn't dream about moving to Paris and pretending they are Coco Chanel.

Baby, It's Cold Outside !

Dec 20, 2012

It's so cold out today in New York City all I can think about is my warm coat. With winter "officially" beginning tomorrow that is if the world doesn't end, I thought what better day then to show you guys some decently priced cute and actually warm coats for the season.

A Girl Can Dream Right ?

Dec 19, 2012

Sooooo it wouldn't be Christmas if I didn't share my dream wish list with you guys. These are things I wish I could buy but being on a just-graduated-college-budget that's not happening this year. I would be crazy not to include that must sought out 3.1 Phillip Lim bag. And I wouldn't be a true Audrey Hepburn fan if I didn't desire a Burberry trench. How cute are those rose gold headphones?

1. 3.1 Phillip Lim Burgundy Pashli Satchel
2.  Red Valentino Polka Dot Chelsea Boots
3. Helmut Soft Sweatshirt Zip-Up
4. Marc by Marc Jacobs Classic Q-Wingman Zip Around Wallet
5. Chanel Square Acetate With Quilted Lambskin Eyeglasses
6. We Are Frends Layla Rose Gold Head Phones
7. Burberry Prorsum Mid-Length Gabardine Trench
8. Maison Francis Kurkdjian Aqua Universalis Perfume
9. Rebecca Minkoff Corinne Silk Top

LFW: Pops Of Color Spring 2013

Dec 18, 2012

Color obliviously was the theme of the Osman Spring 2013 collection. It makes wish it was Spring already because I'm loving the pops of neon. Looks as if the peplum trend will still be popular next Spring judging from this collection.

I just love the weird shapes and geometrical panels all over this Jean-Pierre Braganza Spring 2013 Collection. The tie-dye effect on the fabric is cool and subtle enough to wear on many occasions.

Matthew Williamson always keeps it fresh and colorful, he never bores you. Do you guys remember the collaboration he had with H&M a couple of years ago? The colors in this collection remind me of it, it was full of fuchsia, turquoise and rich jewel tone colors.

A Little Inspiration . . .

Dec 17, 2012

I tell myself this every morning. For Christmas I gave myself a gym membership and I'm loving it so far. The first couple of days was hard but now I'm catching momentum. The feeling you have of accomplishment after you have a good work out is the best feeling. Plus, I still get to eat everything I want just put in longer hours at the gym.

Fashion Film Friday: How To Marry A Millionaire

Dec 14, 2012

This is one of my favorite movies besides Breakfast at Tiffany's obviously. Marilyn Monroe plays the cutest ditzy chick ever. How To Marry A Millionaire follows three gorgeous gold diggers around New York City trying to literally marry a millionaire. Shactze Page (Lauren Bacall), Loco Dempsey (Betty Grable), and ditzy Pola Debevoise (Marilyn Monroe) rent a luxurious penthouse from a millionaire trying to avoid the IRS, who is hiding out in Europe. They use this penthouse to hopefully attract eligible wealthy men.

I don't want to give too much away because I think this is like the mother of all romantic comedies, its a must see. It has some of the best comedic moments ever. Plus, the gold diggers are Bergdorf Goodman showroom models, so they have the most fabulous 1950's wardrobe. And they have a five minute fashion show showcasing the best 1950's fashion.

Snippet from Movie:

Pola Debevoise: You know who I’d like to marry?
Loco Dempsey: Who?
Pola Debevoise: Rockefeller.
Loco Dempsey: Which one?
Pola Debevoise: I don’t care.
Loco Dempsey: I wouldn’t mind marrying a Vanderbilt.
Pola Debevoise: Or Mr. Cadillac.
Schatze Page: No such person. I checked.
Loco Dempsey: Is there a Mr. Texaco?

Gift Guide For Him

Dec 13, 2012

Every year we end up getting the gifts for men last because lets face its not as fun as going shopping for ourselves. But shopping for men can be pretty easy if you know what they're into. Whether the gift is for a brother, father, friend, cousin, boyfriend, etc. a watch, nice shirt, or cologne or shaving kit can always be a good idea. If the guy you need to get a gift for is really into grooming or his looks The Art of Shaving is a great gift, as well as the Levi's (I think they make guys butts look great). For the gamer you have to get a game console and how cute is this Limited Edition Star Wars one? I'm really just in love with the gold controller. And for a simple funny gift a graphic tee like The Hangover one on the left is good idea. Oh, and for the guy obsessed with his iPhone like most of the world is the North Face gloves are perfect because he can use his phone and not freeze his fingers in the winter.

LFW: Burberry Prorsum Spring 2013

Dec 11, 2012

To start off my London Fashion Week Spring 2012 reviews it was only right to start with Burberry Prorsum. The rich jewel tone colors were amazing. I loved the navy, plum, red, emerald, blush, citron, all the colors. And of course the updated trench with lace detailing and cape inspired shoulders. Even the hot shorts were ridiculously beautiful, makes me kind of want to walk around in these type of shorts but with a nice trench over it of course.

Splurge or Save: The Leopard Skinny

Dec 10, 2012

Let me just say that my co-worker has the Target Skinnies and they fit her like a glove. I've heard Current/Elliott's fit you like a glove too but if you don't usually spend $150 or more on jeans I'd say go to Target. I think I might even order these myself. I like that the print is faded giving it a more subtle appearance, well as subtle as you can get in leopard. These would look great with a loosely fitted tee in black or white with ankle boots or chelsea booties I blogged about last week.

A Little Inspiration . . .

I love thinking about the future even though it scares me sometimes because I wonder am going to get there and how? I don't know about you but if I'm not a little scared or nervous about doing something its just not exciting enough to look forward to.

Fashion Film Friday: Pretty Woman

Dec 7, 2012

Okay so who hasn't watched Pretty Woman? No one, yeah that's what I thought. This one is a classic. Who doesn't love a story about a prostitute who actually has a heart, cares about dental hygiene, and has a millionaire fall in love with her and they ride off into the sunset and happily ever after. Its a cute easy film to watch whenever you're bored and don't know what to watch on netflix.

On My Nook: Gone Girl

Dec 6, 2012

"Marriage can be a real killer." That's the start of the synopsis behind the book Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. I just finished this book last week and I didn't think it would suck me in so much. This book seriously should be a movie.

I don't want to give too much away because this book is a thriller and a page turner. So, there is this perfect couple Nick and Amy and they have the perfect marriage until they start to notice each others true colors. They say you don't know someone until you live with them, well this is what happened to Nick and Amy. On their fifth anniversary Amy goes missing form their home and because people watch too many lifetime movies the first suspect is Nick her husband. Throughout the investigation Nick tells a series of lies that do not help his case to cover up his past bad behavior and Amy's discovered diary does't make him look any more innocent. People from Amy's past show up and hint that she is not the post sane person ever and could put any one on edge of murder.

I feel like this summary just doesn't do the book any justice because I can't give away the anything because their are so many secrets to discover. Just know you won't be bored reading this. If you are in to Romance, Law and Order (SVU), CSI, all those crime shows with a hint of romance you'll love this book. It's truly a page turner and once you get to the good part it starts with another part of the story that will make you want to turn the pages faster.

Illustrating Fashion: Varsity Jacket

The varsity jacket was everywhere this season on the runway and in street style photos by Tommy Ton on Style.com. You can also still find them in stores in many different colors and textures. I've seen some cool floral ones at Urban Outfitters that look vintage inspired. My favorite I designed is that color block damask print one on the bottom left. Below are some options of jackets that are in store now.

P.S
They look really cool with beanie hats.

Wish I Were Wearing: Cloudy Weather

Dec 5, 2012

It's a cloudy day here in New York City today and these colors match the mood with a hint of burgundy. Two items that I really want from this collage is that 3.1 Phillip Lim bag of course. And the Dr. Martens so I can dress them up with jersey dresses. But that Helmut puffer is getting to me, it looks just right for this cozy weather.

The Chelsea Bootie

Dec 4, 2012

I've been on the hunt for the perfect Chelsea boot and I'm stuck between #1 ASOS or the #6 TopShop ones because I want classic ones I can wear year round. I think they're so versatile, it all depends how you dress them up. You can wear them out running errands or on a night out.

Color Trend: Lady & The Vamp

Dec 3, 2012

Bordeaux, Burgundy, Maroon, Oxblood, whatever you want to call this vampy color its in and in my opinion a perfect color to wear during the holidays. How stunning would that Nasty Gal Romper be with some Mary Jane Platform shoes!
